Nelson Mandela has announced details of a concert in London’s Hyde Park to commemorate his 90th birthday next year. The event, scheduled for 27 June, will raise awareness of Mandela’s international Aids campaign, 46664.

Nelson Mandela has announced details of a concert in London’s Hyde Park to commemorate his 90th birthday next year. The event, scheduled for 27 June, will raise awareness of Mandela’s international Aids campaign, 46664.

Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor, who are founding ambassadors of 46664, have confirmed their commitment.

Mandela revealed the plans while he was in London to unveil a statue of himself in Parliament Square. He was joined by Gordon Brown and London Mayor Ken Livingstone at the unveiling on 29 August.

During his speech, Mandela said he hoped to return to London for the event next year.
