The current list (or framework, as the COI refers to it) is worth more than £12m per annum and is due to expire this year.
Those agencies that make it onto the list can compete for government and public sector work without going through a lengthy procurement process each time.
According to a statement released today, agencies will be selected through a rigorous procurement process that will assess the "proven expertise and experience of the company itself and its staff, quality of service, financial soundness, pricing structure and other organisational information related to procurement requirements."
Director of live events, Simon Hughes, whose team is undertaking the review, said: "Over the past four years our existing framework agencies have delivered a variety of challenging and exciting live event projects to a very high standard.
"We are looking forward to expanding that opportunity with our new framework, to ensure that the best talent in the business can continue to use their skills and expertise to reach the many audiences we communicate with on behalf of our public sector clients."
Agencies interested in applying for the live events framework should register at www.coi.bravosolution.co.uk and complete the Invitation to Tender (ITT) titled 'Events, Exhibitions and Technical Services Framework, ITT'.
