Clarion Events has teamed up with Brand Events and London radio station Capital Radio to launch a show for youngsters trying to break into showbusiness. The Capital Showbiz Show will run from 21-24 October at Earls Court, London. Clarion and Capital Radio jointly own the venture. Brand Events has been called in to help organise the event. Clarion managing director Simon Kimble said: “We are using Brand Event’s experience. It is the best company to do this type of project as it is a creative firm that understands the live event market.” The Showbiz Show will be split into five zones – acting, modelling, presenting, music, and dancing. Each area will include workshops and seminars on issues such as how to find an agent or put a portfolio together. A main stage will feature celebrity and up-and-coming acts, and there will be catwalk shows and talks by stars about what it’s like to be in showbusiness and how they got there. The new show will be more event-oriented rather than a traditional exhibition, in line with Clarion’s strategy to develop a portfolio of leisure shows. “Brand Events is helping us with that vision,” Kimble said. Brand Events managing director Chris Hughes said: “We are very excited about working again with Capital Radio, which we collaborated with on our Chemistry event. We will continue using sponsorship and good ideas to create new kinds of event environments.” Clarion said it expected to announce four more leisure event launches shortly.
