Clarion Events is launching a consumer wine tasting event on the back of the boom in UK wine sales. The London Wine Festival will take place from 24-27 July at Olympia and is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors. The target audience is 25-to-45 year-olds who want to learn more about wine. Event director Adam Brown said: “Wine sales have rocketed in England and this is the sort of event that Londoners want. We have taken the successful beer festival concept and extended it to wine.” More than 300 wines will be exhibited around a central bar feature. Visitors will be able to learn about wine tasting, try a range of complementary foods and listen to live music. “We want to show people that they can become wine connoisseurs,” said Brown.
