The latest networking event for the UK chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES) paid tribute to its cousins across the pond with an American-themed party at Freemasons' Hall.

For the first time the UK and US chapters held simultaneous networking events, and in tribute both used themes based on each other's countries.

The UK-based event featured everything from New York-themed characters and entertainment to culinary delights from Richmond Caterers including salf-beef sandwiches and vanilla cheesecake. The actual venue was also cleverly transformed into Grand Central Station with a London twist by Studio Boardman and Footprint.

Guests also sampled the work of other ISES members including Designscene, MCM Productions, while there was also an auction to raise money for the SEARCH Foundation with prizes donated by Access Sport International. There was also an interactive feature produced by 1vis that allowed guests the opportunity to have their pictures taken on a number of US- themed backgrounds. They were then able to take their photos home, while the images were also uploaded immediately onto a website for the US networking party to download.

This was the second of the week's big networking events after the London Aquarium played host to the industry's first ever Tweetup. One of its organisers Peter Kerwood has blogged about the event's success on Eventmagazine.co.uk today.
