Caterers asked to bid for NEC food business

The NEC Birmingham is to review its catering offer after 30 years of in-house operation. NEC management has called for catering operators to pitch for the business, which will centre around outlets in the exhibition halls and on the public concourses.

The review follows visitor feedback and NEC Group chief executive Andrew Morris said the venue was keen to hear from niche, as well as large-scale, operators.

Food retail outlets account for a turnover of £13m at the venue and the NEC is looking to build on this figure. The review is expected to be completed in spring and the changes implemented in summer.
