Cash promise helps Ally Pally to widen offer

Alexandra Palace is looking to develop its offer following assurances from its landlord, the London Borough of Haringey, that it will continue to take responsibility for a £38m debt caused by a fire during the mid-1980s.

The north London venue now has the support to carry out research into organiser requirements before developing a five-year plan.

Alexandra Palace head of sales and marketing Chris Gothard said: "Historically, we have been best known for our exhibition space. A key objective will be to reposition ourselves as a venue of choice among organisers of corporate hospitality and live events as well."

Results of the research will be announced at the end of August.
