Hosted on 1-4 May, the Spanish-inspired food and drink event will take place at London’s Southbank Centre. Nick Ryan, a composer whose senses intermingle as a synaesthete, will unveil the world’s first wine soundscape as part of Streets of Spain.

Soundscape is a specially-designed, soundproof space where attendees will be completely enveloped in the sound of bespoke compositions created by Ryan as they sample three of Campo Viejo’s wines. They will first be asked to walk through a tasting in complete silence to attune their senses and palates, and then again with the sounds created as they taste the drinks.

More than 300,000 people attended last year’s Streets of Spain festival, which included a similar sensory experience – the Colour Lab. The 2015 experience will include the Las Ramblas food market, the Plaza Mayor music stage and Logroño, where Campo Viejo will host its Blend Your Own Wine massterclasses and urban art installations.

Lucy Bearman, head of marketing at Pernod Ricard UK, said: "Following on from our successful Colour Lab experiment last year, where more than 3,000 people experienced the effects of light and sound on taste, we wanted to continue the journey of exploring the senses.

"We’re really interested in exploring how sound and taste can work together to enhance the enjoyment of wine, and running Soundscape at this year’s Streets of Spain gives people a unique approach to wine tasting they won’t have experienced before."
