Adventure challenge event series Tough Mudder is teaming up with Campingninja to offer camping options for the new Tough Mudder Scotland and Tough Mudder Yorkshire.

Campingninja sets up campsites and pre-erected camping villages at live events across the UK. It set up temporary camp sites for 8,000 people during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

On 24-25 August, participants will descend on the Dalkeith Estate near Edinburgh to take on the 12-mile course and for the first time, while the first Tough Mudder Yorkshire takes place on 7-8 September at Broughton Hall estate in Skipton.

The endurance challenge launched in the UK last year with three nationwide events, after taking America and Australia by storm. The brainchild of Englishmen Will Dean and Guy Livingstone, the events have doubled to six nationwide in 2013.

Sarah Harvey, UK managing director at Tough Mudder, said: "Tough Mudder is a phenomenal experience. Most of our Mudders take months to train and prepare for these events. There is no other challenge like this and they want to make it a weekend occasion that they can share with their families and friends.

"Camping is as much about camaraderie as the event itself and pitching up around the BBQ after completing one of our gruelling challenges is a great way to end the day so we are really excited about being able to offer this at Tough Mudder."

Plans are already in the works to roll out the camping option at other UK Tough Mudder events.

We hope that by offering affordable accommodation participants can now venture further afield and start ticking off the events they have completed and really make a sport of it."
