South-west England is Britain’s festival hot-spot with 147 major festivals in 2010, according to research put together by stonewool insulation firm Rockwool, with 591 days revelling in total.
The region is famous for Glastonbury festival as well as a number of smaller events, including the current Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
At a county level, Greater London has more major festivals than any other district in the UK, followed by Devon which has 39 major festivals in 2010, North Yorkshire with 27 and Somerset with 26.
July is the busiest month, hosting nearly a quarter of all festivals.
