In brief: McKenzie Group to rebrand as Academy Music Group
McKenzie Group, which owns live music venues and clubs including Carling Academy Brixton and Shepherd's Bush Empire, is to rebrand as Academy Music Group (AMG) following its management buyout in August 2004. It plans to make further site acquisitions over the next year, as well as expanding other areas of the business. AMG chief executive John Northcote said: "The Academy brand is synonymous with live music and the new company reflects our core business." Stage Electrics supplied staging for last month's 'Make Poverty History' rally, in London's Trafalgar Square, which was attended by Nelson Mandela and Sir Bob Geldof. Stage Electrics provided a platform, which was on the square's main staircase and two press platforms that hosted some 350 journalists.
