Battersea Power Station plans delayed but project still "inevitable"

1st Option, the company behind the plans for Battersea Power Station's new temporary structure The Boiler House, has been told it will have to wait another month to find out if its planning application has been successful.

The firm was due to find out if it had got the green light yesterday, but was held up by an adminstrative delay which will prolong the decision until 16 September.

However, Elias Deveries, director of events at 1st Option, told Event that he is optimistic that the project will go ahead as no objections had been made in the planning process so far.

"There was an adminstrative delay in the proceedings, but to all intents and purposes, the project has got the green light. We don't want to take anything for granted, but it looks good."

He added that the delay has meant that "hard marketing" plans for the temporary venue have been postponed.

Event reported last month that the space has been deemed safe for events.

1st Option already had a number of events pencilled in for the 1,000-capacity space.
