Devised in collaboration with retailer Lyle & Scott, The Contactless Jacket features a Barclaycard bPay contactless chip in the right cuff. Wearers will be able to simply tap their sleeve to pay for goods up to £30.
The stunt follows a number of contactless payment trials from Barclaycard. The brand attached a card terminal to a donkey in Blackpool in August 2014, and prototyped contactless woollen gloves around the Christmas period.
The jacket is available to purchase online and from Lyle & Scott’s flagship store on London’s Carnaby Street for £150. It is available in Admiral Blue and True Black.
Today (3 September) will see Barclaycard partner with Bompas & Parr to host a 24-hour tasting menu event.
