The event, which is backed by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) sees the presentation of two medals, the Carnegie Medal - the UK's most influential children's book award - and the Kate Greenaway Medal that is awarded for outstanding illustration in a book for children and young people.

This year will mark the 75th anniversary of the Carnegie Medal, and will take place in the venue’s Cinema 1, followed by a reception in the Garden Room and Conservatory.

Anthony Hyde, general manager of Barbican Business Events, said: "The unique spaces and atmosphere created at the Barbican provides the perfect setting for prestigious events like the CILIP Carnegie Book Awards. We are delighted at their decision to choose the Barbican for this event and we look forward to welcoming them in June."
