At the inaugural Apps for Good Awards, fourteen teams of young people will present their ideas for apps to a panel of industry experts.

The winners will work with professional app developers to bring their idea to life.

An audience of 250 people will attend the ceremony, hosted by Tomorrow’s World presenter Maggie Philbin.

Anthony Hyde, general manager of Barbican Business Events, said: "Creativity and the atmosphere sets the scene, excites the visitors and ensures they are prepared for the event’s content. We look forward to seeing the creative ideas for apps the finalists present. We hope that the environment created by the Barbican will inspire them to achieve greater things in future."

The competition was created by not-for-profit technology company CDI Europe.
