Back Row Events has been forced to cancel its series of beach and outdoor cinema events planned on London’s South Bank this summer. The agency received planning approval from Lambeth council in November and has since secured sponsorship and developed various aspects of the activity. A Back Row spokeswoman said: “Contractual terms could not be finalised with the South Bank Centre within our commercial deadlines. It is very disappointing not to provide such an exciting and new event for Londoners this year but we remain committed to securing a long-term home for the event.” Back Row Events had planned to create the city’s first authentic urban beach together with a 1,000-seat open-air cinema, beach bar, barbecues, café, sports and arts activity zones and market stalls.
