The not-for-profit event is focusing on creating a "valuable experience" for its 2,000 delegates as the recession bites.

Highlights will include presenter's Ant and Dec taking part in an Alternative MacTaggart. The duo will be joined by Amanda Holden and surprise special guests in a TV's Got Talent Edinburgh Special.

Elsewhere, The Wire creator, David Simon, notorious showbiz blogger Perez Hilton, the Top Gear team, BBC political buff Robert Peston and actor Ross Kemp are also confirmed to give Masterclasses.

"With tickets being reasonably expensive, we've really focused on providing a valuable and useful event," said a spokeswoman for MGEITF. "We are gathering the industry to discuss vital topics including advertising and public service broadcasting."

The headline session, 10 Years of Big Brother: How Reality Has Changed TV, will look at the influence, history and controversy surrounding the Channel 4 show.
