The arena was constructed especially for the sport of gymnastics, and it will host three disciplines during the upcoming Rio Olympic Games. The gold medal-inspired room has been designed to include a range of apparatus’ typically used in the sport.
These include rubberised floors, a hanging rope ladder and lamp rings. Other features include a gold bed, ‘safety net’ hammock and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the arena.
One winner and a guest will be flown to Rio to stay in the listing on 20 April. The prize package will also include a stadium tour with Brazilian gymnasts Diego and Daniele Hypolito, who will take guests to the nearby Barra beach for a private training session.
Prize recipients will also attend the final international rhythmic gymnastics qualifier event and medal ceremony, as well as meet other Olympic international athletes and enjoy a spa session.
Members of the public are required to visit the Rio Olympic Arena listing on Airbnb before midnight on Saturday (16 April) for a chance to win. The competition requires that they ‘contact the host’ and tell them a little about themselves, where they live and why they would like to stay in the bedroom.
Airbnb will fly the selected individual and their guest of choosing to Rio from anywhere in the world.
Leonardo Tristão, country manager, Brazil at Airbnb said: "At Airbnb, we are in the business of offering unique spaces that inspire you long after your stay, and oftentimes we find that inspiration transcends the walls of your listing and lives on in the people you meet and incredible experiences you have.
"Having the opportunity to live like an Olympic athlete in Rio, train alongside them and witness first-hand the thrill of competing for a gold medal on a global stage is just one example of the incredible experiences you find on Airbnb."
Earlier this week (11-13 April), Airbnb hosted three competition winners within a submerged bedroom at the Aquarium de Paris, which was surrounded by 35 sharks.
