The annual industry association awards attracted almost 150 entries from venues, suppliers and organisers across 14 categories. Supplier-led categories include Service Supplier of the Year and Product Supplier of the Year.
Aztec Communications and aspevents.net have been nominated in both categories; Arena Structures, Early Action Group and Perton Signs are in the product supplier group; and Melville Exhibition and Event Services, Vivid Interface and Teem Services have made the final list in the service supplier group.
In the organiser-led categories, Asian Lifestyle 2004 - managed by Himalaya Shows, Events & Exhibitions - will compete against Clarion Events and Brand Events-run shows for Best Launch Consumer Show. And Exposure Event Creations' the Exhibiting Show will do battle with Montgomery International's Russian International Wine and Spirits Show for Best Launch Show Trade.
Haymarket Exhibitions has had two shows, Max Power Live and Autosport International, nominated in the Best Visitor Experience Consumer category.
Himalaya managing director Tony Lit said: "Organising Asian Lifestyle was an exhilarating experience last year. The positive reaction from visitors to our launch event was reward enough for all the hard work."
Venues that have been shortlisted for awards include Excel London and Earls Court & Olympia (ECO) Group, which will compete for two accolades: rewarding venue customer service and venue facilities.
G-Mex and Novotel London West join ECO and Excel to make up the Venue Customer Service category, while Amsterdam Rai, Wembley Pavilion and the Yorkshire Event Centre complete the Venue Facilities Development & Innovation category.
The AEO Excellence Awards take place at Excel's Platinum Suite on 1 July.
