Individuals are being asked to submit an outdoor or adventure focused project, as well as information about themselves online.
They are required to provide information including the duration of the project, number of participants involved and their ideal location in which to execute it.
They need to be involved in or have a passion for mountain biking, kayaking, mountain running, paragliding, climbing, backcountry skiing or ski mountaineering, and must submit a video that illustrates why they want to claim freedom.
Adidas will select what it believes to be the most inspiring and creative projects, and one applicant will eventually be named the next Adidas Outdoor athlete, joining existing individuals who specialise in sports including kayaking, climbing and paragliding.
The chosen individual will hold the title of Adidas Outdoor athlete for approximately one year.
Adidas will also select a total of seven projects, with winners given the chance to execute them between 27 February and 31 May, 2016.
Applications close on 14 December, and can be made via the Adidas UK website.
Adidas recently teamed up with Urban Outfitters to host a party and pop-up store in celebration of its Adidas Originals by Hyke collection within the retailer's Oxford Street store.
