BA welcomes passengers with Paralympic projections

Passengers flying into Heathrow over the past couple of days will have been greeted by a series of giant images projected on to British Airway's engineering hangars.

The projections show ParalympicsGB athlete Shelly Woods with the wording ‘Welcome to our Manor’ along with the hashtag HomeAdvantage to encourage support of Team GB.

The images were timed to coincide with the busiest two days for international athlete arrivals for the Paralympic Games (22 - 23 August).

Production agency Drive Productions used extra powerful lumen projectors to create the images, the largest of which measured 58m x 18m – the equivalent to 24 London Routemaster double decker buses.

As official airline partner of the Paralympic Games, BA has supported athletes and their families from 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports with flights to train and compete abroad.

Luisa Fernandez, British Airways sponsorship manager, said: "We are very excited about the Paralympic Games and wanted to give the athletes an extra boost in the run up to them – we hope this celebratory message does just that."

During the Games, the airline will continue to host Park Live at the Olympic Park, where fans can come together and get behind our athletes while watching all the action on Europe’s largest outdoor LED screen.

More than 400,000 fans visited Park Live during the Olympic Games.
