The Netherlands Olympic Committee’s official base at Alexandra Palace is anticipated to attract 108,000 visitors between the 26 July and 12 August.
Aside from an abundance of orange the house, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, will incorporate an Athletes Area, Medal Ceremony Hall, Fanzone and a 500-capacity grandstand in the Heineken Arena where fans can watch live footage from the Games on big screens.
The Great Hall will house a range of sports activities including table tennis, fencing, cycling, and a virtual 100m sprint where visitors can race against an Olympian on a virtual wall.
In the evenings, top Dutch entertainers and DJs will be put on shows for visitors in the Medal Ceremony Hall.
Norbert Cappetti, communications manager for Holland Heineken House, told Event the base will fuse British and Dutch cultures with guests being able to tuck into everything from Dutch bitterballen to fish and chips in the on-site food plaza. He hinted there may even be orange Queen's Guards to greet people as they enter.
"People should feel it is a home away from home, that has always been the philosophy of the concept since it launched in Barcelona," he said.
The 20-year anniversary will be marked with special commemorative menus, porcelain coffee cups and at the opening ceremony party on 26 July.
The committee will use a predominantly Dutch workforce to create and run the house, with British firms Show and Event Security, CSP Traffic Management and Outback Rigging providing additional support. Around 275 of the 450 members of staff will be voluntary, recruited through a Dutch scheme to get young people into skilled work.
Public tickets went on sale yesterday priced at €12.50 each. The house will be open daily from 10.30am until 1.30am. Families will be able to visit during the day, but there will be a strict over 18s policy after 8pm.
