The Netherlands has chosen Alexandra Palace as its official home for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Netherlands Olympic Committee managing director Gerard Dielessen and Heineken Netherlands marketing director Hans Böhm signed the contract at a press call at the north London venue earlier this afternoon (1 December).

Event reported that Alexandra Palace was rumoured to be hosting the house in October.

Temporarily rebranded as Holland Heineken House, the venue will become a base for the Netherlands team and its supporters for the duration of the Games.

A flagship Olympic host house, Holland Heineken House has become renowned for its creative design and will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012.
