Impatience is a Virtue takes place on 7 Sept
Branded "an evening of inspiration" by its young organisers, the Impatiance is a Virtue event on 7 September will feature on-stage performances including music, dancers and artists, set in interactive spaces.
Project manager Carlene Campbell told Event today that the team had to grapple with artistes pulling out of the event before securing a headline act. "The short timescale we’ve had to pull this event together worried some acts and they decided not to take part in the project. But we have now secured a good headline act, which everyone is really happy about."
Campbell said the experience is opening her eyes to the realities of managing a large event. "Managing a project on this scale is so different to anything I’ve done before. It’s full on and there is a lot of pressure, but I’m learning so much and have met people who have faith in my skills, which has given me a lot of confidence."
She said the team is getting on so well that some of them may stick together to organise another, similar event next year.
More than 300 young people, and a further 200 industry representatives and press are set to attend the event.
The competition, known as The Project, launched at the start of summer by Virgin Media Pioneers – an online community for aspiring entrepreneurs.
From thousands of entries, one hundred hopefuls were shortlisted to complete paid work placements with organisations including talent management agencies, event companies and media organisations.
This weekend Virgin Media hosted its annual Louder Lounge event at the V Festival.
