The future of Olympic sites has filled news pages over the last week, with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur football clubs putting in bids to move into the main Olympic stadium when the Games finishes.
The park itself is set to be turned into a permanent ecological and visitor area, with treetop walkways, fountains and cafes.
"Not since Georgian England has London seen such an ambitious and comprehensive vision for a new district. Our plans seek to combine the classical best of this city with the greatest benefits of modern urban living," said London mayor Boris Johnson.

This is deliberately designed to capture the most attractive features of the Georgian age, to ensure our own Elizabethan age sets London up for generations to come."
